We have a number of students in our school who are anaphylactic to a number, or combination of different things. These include nuts (both tree and ground nuts), and a variety of other products. We would ask that you don’t send products with nuts to school. Schools can’t identify themselves as ‘nut free’ because there may be an occasion when families forget or send something to school inadvertently. It is important we don’t share food and be vigilant. Term newsletters outlined that we don’t share food or send nuts to school. If you are unsure see your class teacher. If a class has a student with severe allergies we may send home some additional information to that class or area of the school. We follow Department of Education and Training guidelines and requirements to manage anaphylaxis within the school. We work closely with families across the school. All staff are trained in the use of autoinjectors (pens) and we are required to do in house updates twice a year.
