At our recent curriculum information night, we were asked what parents might do to help children at home. Whilst reading, a bit of spelling, a bit of number are all very important we discussed the importance of oral language, talking to your children. It is said by some, that ‘all language acquisition floats on a sea of oral language.’ Never underestimate the importance of talking to your children, giving them time to share their ideas and hear yours. In the hustle and bustle of modern life, taking the time to talk, share and play games together is very important.
